August Heitmuller (1873-1935, German)
August Heitmuller, German artist and co-founder of the "Hanover Secession", studied art at the School of Applied Arts in Hanover and later at the Academy in Munich. Heitmuller moved to Berlin where he attended the art school run by Lovis Corinth. Supported by patrons he could take trips to France, Belgium, Holland, England and Spain.
The artist was influenced by the New Objectivity style, he focused mostly on portrait painting.

Felix Lorioux (1872–1964), French Illustrator
One of the best illustrators of children's books, Felix Lorioux was born in Angers. He studied art as an apprentice with painters on glass and later in Angers and Paris Ecole des Beaux Arts.
He knew Walt Disney, who admired his work, he was then hired to illustrate Mickey stories for the French market, as well as The Silly Symphony. But Lorioux' style, full of humour and fancy, widely inspired by Art nouveau and japanese painting, was too far from Disney world, and the contract was broken in 1934.
Lorioux was a quiet man, with no interest in self-promotion, he was also a perfectionist - his wife had to pry his works from his hands to have them sent to the printer.

He Jiaying, Contemporary Chinese artist
Born in 1957, He Jiaying entered the Tianjin Institute of Arts to study traditional Chinese painting when he was 20. After graduating he started teaching at his school.
He is now council member of the Chinese Artists Association, member of the China Society for the Contemporary Gongbi and Heavy Coloring Paintings and lecturer at the Tianjin Academy of Arts.
He Jiaying integrates traditional Chinese elements with his individual style. He paints modern figures and female nudes with Chinese ink wash.
