John Marshall Gamble (1863-1957). Landscapes

He was an American plein air painter, famous for his glorious California's wildflowers paintings.
Born in New Jersey, he received his early art education in San Francisco. Also he traveled to Paris, where he attended the Academie Colarossi.
Returning from France he set up a studio in San Francisco. In 1906 the earthquake destroyed all his works, except three paintings. He decided to move to LA, but settled in Santa Barbara, charmed by the landscape's native beauty.
