Emma Sandys (1834-1877) British Painter
Emma Sandys(b.1843 in Norwich) was the second child of Anthony Sands, a jobbing painter, and the sister of Frederick Sandys. She was taught by her father and like her brother produced bust length portraits of women in an intense and detailed Pre-Raphaelite style. Sandys attracted a considerable number of of commissions for child portraits and exhibited portraits and female heads in oil and chalk drawings in Norwich and at the Royal Academy, when she moved to London in 1874.
