Henri Lebasque (1865-1937) French Artist
This very prolific and successful artist was known as a painter of 'joy and light'. He started studying at at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts d’Angers. After moving to Paris in 1886, he met Pissarro and Renoir, made accqaitance with the founders of the The Nabis' Group Pierre Bonnard and Edouard Vuillard. Later with his friend Henri Matisse, the artist found the Salon d'Automne. Lebasque's friend Henri Manguin made him to discover the south of France, and soon the artist moved there with his family.
The artisst's daughters Marthe and Nono were his favorite sitters.
