Adolf Dietrich (1877-1957) Swiss Naive Painter
Adolf Dietrich is the most celebrated Swiss naïve artist. Born to the poor farmers family, he was the youngest of seven children, and was needed as a farmhand. All his life he lived in his parents house and remained a bachelor. Besides the farm, he worked at a local textile mill, painting only on Sundays. He never received any formal training, his works were exhibited for the first time in 1913, in Germany, where he received some recognition. By 1937 he was considered as the principal representative of naive art.

The paintings are so beautiful and bright. I love "The Girl with the Beetle" and "The Guinea Pig Family". They are cheering me up on a very gloomy day in Buffalo.
