Portrait Painting by Fanny Brate (1861-1940) Swedish Artist
The important Swedish painter, Fanny Brate was accepted at the Royal Swedish Academy of Arts at the age of 18, after having graduated from Konstfack. In 1885 she received a Royal Medal in recognizion of her art. In 1887, she married a runologist Erik Brate and had four daughters with him. She gave up painting after the marriage, but was involved in the Swedish art world as a patron for other artists.
