Harriet Backer (1845-1932, Norwegian)
Norwegian painter Harriet Backer achieved recognition in her own time. Harriet Backer is best known for her detailed interior scenes with rich colors and moody lighting. She took her first lessons in drawing and painting at the age of 12, later she studied in Munich and Paris. In 1889, the painter won a silver medal at the Exposition Universelle, also she was awarded the King's Medal of Merit in Gold in 1908.
