Austrian artist Werner Hartmann moved to Paris when he was 20 and studied there at the Art Academies de la Grande Chaumiere , Lhote, Colarossi, Julian and Ranson. His teachers were André Lhote and Roger Bissière. Since 1925 Hartmann had exhibited at various important Paris salons. In 1934 he had a solo exhibition at the Museum of Art in Lucerne. Hartmann returns to Switzerland in 1940 and teaches at the Art School in Lucerne. In 1946 he returned to France and lived there till his death in 1981.
